[Personal History] Imperius's planet of origin is unclear; based on unconfirmed reports of surname, tentatively theorized as the far Outer Rim Imperial manufacturing colony of Kel Vakkar. As with most Imperial subjects, our data is incomplete, but Empire databank records are confirmed entirely absent prior to Imperius's entry to the Sith Academy -- complete lack of data suggests a former slave or non-citizen background. Imperius entered the Academy in his mid-teens and spent a short few years there, rising rapidly in status after apprenticeship to Darth Zash (dossier #ES172336). Some reports suggest involvement in the murder of Darth Skotia (dossier #ES169950) while still in the Academy, but Imperius's connection has never been proven.
Imperius began a quick rise to prominence in his late teens/early twenties after killing his master Zash and taking over her holdings. Across numerous military operations he acquired a widespread reputation among Imperial forces as a reliable troubleshooter; multiple reports name his involvement (as "Lord Archeval") crucial to mission success and praise him as unusually easy to work with for a Sith. He was present for several of the Empire's most large-scale covert operations just prior to the official breach of the Treaty of Coruscant, including the attacks on the Balmorran Arms Factory and the Foundry, and directly led portions of the Corellian ground assault during the Empire's invasion. Concurrent with the Corellia campaign, Imperius seems to have engaged in a brief explosive rivalry with one-time Dark Councilor Darth Thanaton (dossier #ES169502), ending in Thanaton's death and Imperius's immediate elevation to Darth and Dark Councilor status. He is believed currently the youngest member of the Dark Council, but despite his junior status has been observed to be a trusted associate of senior Councilor Darth Marr.
In recent months Imperius has taken up association with Sith Lord Lana Beniko (dossier #ES178122) and SIS's own Theron Shan (dossier #XA245390), and took point for most on-the-ground investigation in a joint unofficial operation with the pair which led to the formation of the Yavin Coalition (see debrief #XB444107). Assuming Imperial-side XO status under Darth Marr, Imperius displayed a remarkable level of willingness to cooperate with Republic aims and methods during the Yavin campaign, directly assisting ground troops of both factions in setup and maintenance of operations, ceding interrogation of select captives to Republic operatives, and readily volunteering obtained intelligence. Imperius led multiple assault missions on Yavin 4's surface, including the joint strike team final assault on the Temple of Sacrifice, with a high success rate.
Darth Imperius's confimed kills include Colonel Rian Darok, Green Jedi Master Arfan Ramos, Jedi Master Berin Fraal, Jedi Master Ocera, Jedi Master Ryen, Jedi Padawan Yadira Ban, assassin droid HK-47, Darth Arkous, Darth Malgus, Darth Serevin, and Revan (with joint strike team).
[Analysis] Close observation of Darth Imperius during the Yavin campaign seems to show a genuine desire to reach across the aisle, find common ground with Republic interests, and minimize loss of life on both sides. Like most Sith he has an ego, but appease it a little and there seems to be a reasonably sane leader and competent operative just underneath. Keep an eye on this one -- liasing or even recruitment potential is hard to ignore, and gaining a source of bleeding-edge intelligence straight from the Dark Council floor itself would be an unprecedented coup.
[Note by SIS operative Theron Shan] How did this guy even end up a Darth? Thought it was illegal for them not to be universal pains in the ass. Even while I was under SIS censure, got more done for the Republic working with him than I have with some of our own Senators and agents -- once the Republic finally gets an Imperial surrender in the future, I'd look to him to have everybody's best interest in mind while drafting up postwar agreements.
